Window glass replacement in Akron
New glass for the windows in your home, set in the frame you already have, from the shop at 560 N. Main St in Akron.
North Hill Glass and Mirror replaces the glass in home windows. The new glass goes into the frame you already have. Our shop is at 560 N. Main St in Akron, and the phone number is (330) 535-1558. If a pane is cracked, or a sealed glass unit has turned foggy, call and tell us what you see. Below you will find what the work covers, where it stops, and what to have ready when you call.
What window glass replacement means
Window glass replacement means taking out the glass that has failed and setting new glass in the same frame. The frame, the sash and the hardware stay where they are. Only the glass changes. That covers a broken pane in a single pane window, a foggy or failed sealed glass unit, and the glass in a storm window.
We replace the glass and we do not replace the window frame. For a window whose frame is still sound, that is often all the job needs. A pane or a sealed unit is a smaller repair than a new window, and it leaves the rest of the window as it is.
Where window glass replacement fits
Window glass work is split into a few services, so you can see what applies to your window:
- Window glass repair: we replace broken single pane glass and storm window glass in the existing frame. This is glass only. We do not repair window frames.
- Insulated glass units: when a window with sealed glass units has gone foggy but the frame is fine, we replace the sealed unit, on site or in our shop.
- Window and door screens: screens are rescreened in our shop.
- Patio and sliding door glass: we replace the glass in the door and leave the door frame as it is.
If you are not sure which one applies, describe the window when you call and we can sort it out together.
Where the work stops
Our window work is glass in your existing frame. We do not replace window frames. If the frame is rotted, bent or damaged, new glass alone will not fix the opening, and that part of the job is not something we list. If your job involves a frame in any way, call (330) 535-1558 and describe what you have before you plan around us.
What to have ready when you call
A few details let us understand the job before anyone makes a trip. Gather what you can from this list:
- Which windows need work, and how many there are.
- What is wrong with each one: broken glass, or fog between the layers of glass.
- The size of the glass, or a clear photo of the whole window taken from inside the room with something in the shot for scale.
- Whether the window has one pane or a sealed double layer, if you can tell.
- A short note on the frame, such as wood, vinyl or metal, and whether it looks sound.
You do not need every item to start. A photo and a short description are enough for a first conversation.
Taking a look around the house
Before you call, take a few minutes to walk through the house and look at every window. Windows of the same age often show the same trouble, so it is common to find a second or third that needs attention. Make a list with the room, the problem and a rough size. A list lets us talk about the whole job at once instead of one window at a time.

Questions
Do you replace window frames? No. We replace the glass in the frame you already have. If the frame is the problem, call and describe it.
Can you replace only the glass? Yes. That is our window work: new glass in the existing frame, for single pane windows, storm windows and sealed units.
Our window glass is foggy between the panes. Do I need a new window? Not always. If the frame and the rest of the window are fine, we replace the sealed glass unit.
Can you rescreen my windows? Yes. Screens are rescreened in our shop, so bring the screen to us.
