North Hill Glass and Mirror installs glass storefronts for new construction projects. The shop is at 560 N. Main St in Akron, and the phone number is (330) 535-1558. Call and tell us what is being built, where it is and what you have in mind for the front of the building.
What new construction storefront work is
A new construction storefront is the glass front of a building that is being built or added to, as opposed to glass replaced in a building that already stands. It could be a new shop, an office, a restaurant or an addition to an existing business.
The work happens alongside other trades, so the plans matter. The size of each opening, the number of doors, the position of the entrance and the finish on the building around it all affect how the glass is arranged. Having drawings in hand early makes for a better conversation.
What we offer
We install glass storefronts for new construction. Our commercial storefront work also includes replacement glass and entrances in buildings that already exist, which you can read about on the commercial storefront glass page. If your project includes entrance doors, the page on commercial entrance doors covers the doors and their hardware. If it includes offices, see glass partitions.
We do both residential and commercial work. The focus here is business projects.
What to have ready when you call
- What is being built, and where.
- Drawings or plans if you have them. A photo of the page showing the storefront is a good start.
- How many openings the storefront has and, if you know them, their sizes.
- How many entrance doors you plan, and what kind.
- Whether the plan includes glass around the entrance, above the doors or on the sides.
- Where the project is in its schedule, so we can talk about timing.
- Who we should speak with, and a number to reach them.
The people planning the building usually know the answers to most of these. If that is not you, passing our number along works too.
How the glass fits into the rest of the job
On a new building, storefront glass usually goes in after the openings are framed, so its timing depends on other work on the site. If you can tell us who is managing the project, or when the openings will be ready, we can plan the conversation around your schedule.
The size of the glass drives much of the job. Big panes are heavy and have to be handled with care, which is part of why we ask for sizes early. A change to an opening late in the project can mean changes to the glass, so passing along revised drawings as they come is helpful.
