What a glass tub enclosure is

A glass tub enclosure is a glass door, or a set of glass panels, along the open side of a bathtub. It takes the place of a shower curtain. It sits along the tub and reaches up from the rim.

A tub door is a sliding or bypass door. A sliding door has panels that move along a track, so nothing swings into the bathroom. We do not normally install a hinged door on a bathtub. If you have a different idea, call and describe it.

A glass tub enclosure suits you if you have a tub with a shower over it and you want glass in place of a curtain. It also suits a bathroom where you want to see the tub and the wall tile.

What we offer

We install glass tub enclosures. The photo above shows a sliding door on a bathtub, with a black frame, from the shop.

Our page on sliding and bypass shower doors explains the sliding styles, including barn style sliders. Hinged doors are for showers, not normally for tubs. See our page on swing, hinged and pivot doors for those.

You can choose the glass type and the hardware finish. Our shower glass and hardware finishes page lists the choices.

Please visit Splendorglass.com to check out shower door layouts, glass types and hardware finishes.

See more of our work in the gallery. Every style we install is listed on our shower doors and enclosures page.

What to have ready when you call

Please gather these details about your tub. They help us prepare your quote.

  • The width of the tub opening, measured wall to wall along the rim. Check it at the top and at the rim, because the two numbers can differ.
  • The height you want the glass to reach.
  • What the walls around the tub are made of, such as tile or a one-piece surround.
  • The glass you want and the hardware finish.
  • A photo of the tub and the walls, taken straight on.

We use your details to prepare your quote.
