What a steam shower enclosure is

A steam shower is a shower built to fill with warm steam. The enclosure is the glass around it. On a steam shower, the glass runs all the way up to the ceiling, instead of stopping below it the way many shower doors do. The panels go up to the ceiling, so the ceiling must be tiled for a steam shower.

Here we are talking about the glass part of the job. The steam equipment, the plumbing and the tile are separate parts of a steam shower. What we offer is the glass enclosure that goes around them.

A steam enclosure suits you if you are planning or building a steam shower and need glass for it. It also suits a shower that you want to be glass from the floor curb to the ceiling, with a door you can step through.

What we offer

We offer steam shower enclosures: glass that runs to the ceiling. The enclosure can include a door and fixed glass panels. If your shower sits in a corner, our page on corner and neo-angle shower enclosures explains those layouts, and a steam enclosure can use them.

If you want the all-glass look, our frameless shower doors page explains that style. The hardware comes in five finishes. See shower glass and hardware finishes for the list.

Please visit Splendorglass.com to check out shower door layouts, glass types and hardware finishes.

You can look at photos of shower door work from the shop in our gallery, and see every style on our shower doors and enclosures page.

What to have ready when you call

A glass enclosure that reaches the ceiling needs careful numbers. Gather these before you call.

  • The ceiling height, measured where the glass will meet it. Measure in more than one spot. The ceiling must be tiled.
  • The layout: a door alone, a door with a fixed panel, or a corner.
  • The width of the opening, and the width of each side if it is a corner.
  • The hinge side and the swing direction of the door.
  • Where the steam head, the controls and any vents sit, so we can see what the glass has to work around.
  • The glass you want and the hardware finish.
  • A photo of the whole shower, from the floor to the ceiling.

If your shower is still being built, tell us where you are in the job. We use your details to prepare your quote.
