Framed shower doors in Akron
A metal frame around the door glass, for tubs and showers, from our Akron shop.
North Hill Glass and Mirror installs framed shower doors, sliding for tubs and showers and hinged for showers. A framed door has a metal frame around the glass. Our shop is in Akron. Call (330) 535-1558 with the size of your opening.
What a framed shower door is
On a framed door, a metal frame runs around the edges of the door glass. The frame holds the glass, and the frame is what slides on a track or swings on hinges. That is the plain difference from a frameless door, where heavy glass and hardware do the holding with no frame at all.
Frame style and the way the door opens are two separate choices. A framed door can slide past a second panel, or it can swing open on hinges. Pick the opening style first, then we talk about the rest.
Framed suits you if you want a door built with a frame around the glass, for a shower or for a tub. If you want less metal, take a look at our semi-frameless doors. Every style we install is listed on our shower doors and enclosures page.
What we offer
We install framed shower doors in sliding and hinged styles for showers, and sliding framed doors for bathtubs. We do not normally install a hinged door on a tub. If you want to know how a sliding door works, read our page on sliding and bypass shower doors. The hinged styles are covered on our swing, hinged and pivot page.
Hardware comes in a choice of finishes. The full list is on our shower glass and hardware finishes page.

What to have ready when you call
The more you know about your opening, the better we can prepare your quote. Try to have these things ready.
- Sliding or hinged: how do you want the door to open? Hinged doors are for showers.
- Tub or shower: what is the door going on?
- The width of the opening, measured at the top, middle and bottom, and the height on both sides.
- For a sliding door, which side you want to step in from. For a hinged door, the hinge side and the swing direction.
- The glass you want and the hardware finish.
- A photo of the opening. If you have a door there now, add a photo of it.
We use your details to prepare your quote.
