What a commercial entrance door is
A commercial entrance door is the door customers and staff use to get into a business. Many have a large panel of glass in a metal frame, so the glass is the main part of the door. Some are single doors and some are pairs. Some swing on hinges and some pivot at the top and bottom.
Because these doors open and close many times a day, the hardware wears. A door that sticks, drags on the floor, swings shut too hard or will not latch is often a hardware problem and not a glass problem. Telling the two apart is part of what a phone call or a photo is for.
What we offer
- Glass entry doors and entryways.
- Replacement glass in commercial entrance and storefront doors.
- Repair or replacement of door closers, hinges, pivots, locks and panic devices on commercial doors.
A panic device is the push bar on the inside of an exit door that lets people push their way out through the door. A closer is the arm at the top of a door that brings it back to the closed position. We work on both.
We do residential and commercial work. The focus here is the commercial side. For the wider picture of storefront work, see commercial storefront glass. For an entrance in a building that is not built yet, see new construction storefronts.
What to have ready when you call
- A photo of the whole door, inside and out.
- The type of door: single or pair, swinging or pivoting, and the material of the frame if you can tell.
- What is wrong: broken glass, a door that will not close or latch, a lock that fails, a closer that leaks or a broken push bar.
- A close photo of the hardware, including any name or number stamped on it.
- The size of the glass, if it is broken.
- Where the building is, and how to reach the person who manages it.
If the door is the main way into a busy business, say so, so we understand the situation.
