What a frameless shower door is
A frameless door has no metal frame around the glass. The glass stands on its own and is held by hinges, clips and other hardware. Frameless doors use thicker glass than framed doors, and the hardware does the job that a frame would do.
The result is a clear sheet of glass between the shower and the room. You see the tile and the walls, with very little metal in the way. A frameless layout can be one hinged door, a door with a fixed panel beside it, or glass that turns a corner.
Frameless suits you if you want the tile to be the main thing you see. If you would like some metal around the glass, look at our semi-frameless shower doors instead. Both are part of our full range of shower doors and enclosures.
What we offer
We install frameless shower doors. We also supply fixed glass panels and return panels. A fixed panel stays in place next to the door. A return panel turns back at an angle from the door or from the fixed panel, so the glass wraps the edge of the shower.
Many frameless layouts use a hinged door. Our page on swing, hinged and pivot shower doors explains how those doors open.
Hardware finishes
Hardware is what holds a frameless door together, so the finish you pick shows on the hinges and the handle. You can choose chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, oil rubbed bronze or satin brass.

What to have ready when you call
A few facts let us prepare your quote. Gather what you can before you call.
- The layout you want: a door alone, a door with a fixed panel, or a corner.
- The width and height of the opening, measured where the glass will stand. Measure at the top, middle and bottom, because walls are not always straight.
- The hinge side. Tell us which side you want the hinges on, standing outside the shower and facing it.
- The swing direction, in or out.
- The glass you want and the hardware finish.
- A photo of the opening, taken straight on, with the walls and the shower base in view.
