What storefront glass is
Storefront glass is the glass at the front of a shop, an office or a restaurant. It includes the large windows that face the street, the glass in the entrance doors and the glass around the entrance. Because people see the front of a business first, this glass has to hold up to daily use and still look clean.
Over time storefront glass can crack, get chipped, scratched or broken. Doors take the most use, so the glass in them and the hardware that moves them are often what needs attention first.
What we do
We work on commercial storefront glass in a few ways. Each has its own page.
- Replacement glass. When a pane in a storefront or a commercial door breaks or fails, we replace the glass. See commercial entrance doors for glass in commercial doors and the hardware that goes with them.
- Entrances. Glass entry doors and entryways, along with door closers, hinges, pivots, locks and panic devices. The same page covers those.
- New construction. Glass storefronts for new buildings and new projects. See new construction storefronts.
- Inside the building. For offices, glass partitions and interior glass walls. For stairs, decks and balconies, glass railings.
Our residential work is listed on the services page. A business owner who also has a home project can bring both to the same shop.
Which page to read
Start with the problem you are looking at. A broken pane in a door or a door that will not close points to the page on commercial entrance doors, which covers both the glass in the door and the closers, hinges, pivots, locks and panic devices that run it. A building that has not been built yet points to new construction storefronts. Work inside an office points to glass partitions, and a stair, deck or balcony points to glass railings.
A large pane in the front of a building is the one case without its own page, and it is covered here. If a storefront window has cracked or broken, call and tell us how big the glass is and where it sits, and send a photo of the front of the building with the damaged pane in view.
How a business job usually starts
Most commercial jobs start with a photo and a few measurements. A photo of the front of the building shows us the layout, the number of doors and the way the glass is framed. A close photo of the damage shows what happened. Together with an address and a contact name, that is usually enough to begin a conversation about the work.
What to have ready when you call
- What needs work and where it is: the address or the part of the building.
- Whether it is a storefront window, a door, an entrance or a new opening.
- The type of door or storefront you have, described as well as you can.
- The size of the glass, if you can measure it safely.
- Photos of the front of the building and a close look at the damaged area.
- Whether the work is for an existing building or a project that has not been built yet.
- Who we should talk to, and a number to reach them.
If you are working from drawings, say so. A photo of the drawings is a good start.
